Forecast for SSS Islands Weather Forecast for the SSS Islands valid until Tuesday evening 18:00 hours February 09, 2010.
Issued: Monday, February 08, 2010. 17:00 A.S.T. (21:00 U.T.C.)

.... SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY AND HIGH SURF ADVISORY HAS BEEN CANCELED....

Weather:

Remainder of today through Tuesday morning: almost clear to partly cloudy.
Tuesday morning through the evening: Generally partly cloudy with a chance of a brief local shower.

Forecast high will be 28 °C, 82 °F. and low 24 °C, 75 °F.
Sunrise will occur at 6:42 A.M. and Sunset at 6:10 P.M.

Winds:
Southerly, 08 to 13 miles per hour with higher gusts possible. Gradually backing to the east tonight 04 to 09 miles per hour. At times overnight into the morning variable winds.

Synopsis: A surface high pressure across the Western Atlantic will continue to generate a mainly gentle trade wind across the region. Furthermore strong subsidence is causing a relatively dry airmass aloft. As a result a dry weather pattern will prevail during the next 24 hours. As for marine conditions, moderate long period Northerly swells, generated by a low pressure area on the North Central Atlantic ocean is still causing some locally rough sea conditions across our Northern coastal areas and Atlantic open waters. However, seas will gradually subside during the late afternoon and drop below the the High Surf and Small Craft criteria. Therefore, High Surf and Small Craft advisories has been canceled. But marine users are still advised to be cautious around the northern coastlines due the presence of swells.

Sea conditions: Moderate, mainly on the Northern coastal areas and Atlantic waters with seas of 3 up to 7 feet. Marine users are urged to venture with caution in these areas. Elsewhere, moderate with sea heights between 2 to 5 feet. Seas are expected to gradually improve during the afternoon into the morning.

Special Features: There are continuous emissions of gases and ash from the Soufriere Hills volcano in Montserrat. With the foretasted wind direction, the volcanic ash is expected to remain well East of the local region.

Outlook until Wednesday evening: Generally partly cloudy.

Forecaster: Luciano.

The next weather forecast will be issued on Tuesday at 06:00 A.S.T. (10:00 U.T.C.).
